Thirumalpur is at a distance of about 14 kms from Kanchipuram on the Kanchipuram to Arakkonam route. This temple has a unique feature among the Paadal Petra Sthalams where one can have the Darshan of both Lord Shiva and Lord Maha Vishnu simultaneously. Inside the sanctum, Lord Mahavishnu standing exactly opposite to Lord Shiva with folded hands in praying form. Devotees worshipping in this temple will be bestowed with the grace of both the Lords.

To get Chkaram Lord Vishnu performed Pooja with 1008 flowers, But Lord Shiva taken ONE FLOWER , and to replace that one flower Maha Vishnu taken his one eye and completed his pooja.. Then Lord Siva restored his eye saying that “as you offered your eye for a lotus flower, you will have the eye with lotus beauty and you will be known as Senthamaraikkannan and gave the Chakkram towards him. Since, Lord Vishnu (Thirumaal) got back his chakkram, this Sthalam is called as "Hari Chakkrapuram" and since,Thirumal got Peru (goodness) it is called as "Thirumaalperu ". Since thirumaal dedicated his Netram (eyes), he is called as "Senthamarai Kannaperumal".

Gnanasambhandhar in his DevaraPathigam explains the worship of Thirumaal and Chandran while singing about this Sthalam.  Here  Ambal is - Anjanatchi Amman facing south direction in a separate sannadhi.  She is also called as "KarunaiNayaki" and  Lord’s shrine is facing east.

The Main Deity ( Lingam) is made up of sand, even today, the priests do not touch the idol - it is called as 'Theenda Tirumeni'. This lingam is the presiding deity in this temple, worshipped by both Parvathi and Vishnu. Here the pooja is done without touching the deity because the they say Siva here is Teenda Thirumeni Nadhar  with kavacham always.   Even during abishekam main Deity is covered with Silver Kavacham.

Other Idols of Lord Valampuri Vinayakar, Uchishta Vinayagr, Maha Ganapathi,  Lord Murugan with Valli & Deivanai, Lord Chidambareswarar, Lord Somaskandar, Lord Choleeswarar, Sri Chandikeswarar, Sri Natarajar, Sri Veerabathrar, Lord Bairavar, Lord Suryan, Lord Chandran, 64 Nayanmars, Goddess Gajalakshmi, & Sri Dakshinamurthy,
