Sri Papahareswarar Temple, Vadathillai
This Lord Shiva temple is an ancient temple more than 1000 years in old Vadathillai, a small village on the banls of Arani River The Sthala Purana-local history – as directed by Acharya Ramanuja, Chandragiri king Kattithevan Yadavarayan built this beautiful Shiva temple for Embar Govindan, Who brought small Banalinga of palm size when he was bathing in the Holy Ganga in Varanasi, to this temple.

The main sanctorum is with sanctum and a maha mandapam. Moolavar is little big and Palm size Panalingam is also kept in front on the avudayar. Inner Praharam we can see Narthana Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar and Durgai.
In the outer parakaram separate sannadhis for Vinayagar, Murugan , Subramaniyar, Chandikeswarar and Ambal. Sri Maragathavalli Ambal is in a separate temple, in standing posture facing south. It is believed that the temple is equivalent to Chidambaram and worshiping Lord Shiva will remove our sins.
Location :: Vadathillai is on the way to Mambakkam from Uthukottai. From the Vadathillai Bus stop, the Village and the temple is about 2 KM. The Preist is near by the temple
