SRI PALLIKONDESWARAR, SURUTTAPALLI, Chittor Dist, A.P, is really Unique and different Lord SIVA temple. In all the usual Lord Siva temples main deighty is in LINGAM FORM or DANCING FORM in most temples. But here Lord Siva is SAYANA KOLAM ( Like Sri Ranganathar, Srirangam) This temple is almost 1000 years old. Here in this temple SRI PALLIKONDESWARAR is representing THATHPURUSHA FACE ( ONE of PANCHA BRAHMA STHALAMS)
Here Lord Siva consumed Poison ( When Asuras and Devas churning sea for Nectar, using VASUKI ,Snake, as rope. Under force from both sides, she spilled VENOM from her mouth, and Lord Siva consumed that POISON to save entire world. He became dull and reclining down, Goddess Parvathi kept Lord Siva's head on her lap and pressed head to keep Poison in his throat. When Lord SIVA woke up he saw NARADHA, SAPTHA RISHIS, DEVATHAS, all felt happy and danced. That day is MAHAPRADOSHAM ( Krishna Paksha Trayodasi on Saturday)
In the Main Shrine devotees can see Lord Siva on the lap of Goddess Parvathi, Lord Ganapathi, Lord Muruga,Surya, Chandra, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Brahma, Rishis Markhandeya, Agasthya, Valmiki, Rishi Naradha, and Lord Indra all can be seen on all 4 sides of the wall. Really wonder full to see all in one Shrine.
Very FIRST SANI PRADOSHAM is started commencing from this temple. Pradosha NANDHI is situated between Main Shrine and Ambal SRI MARAHATHAMBIGAI Shrine. Every Pradosham  15000 devotees will attend this temple in very big front open place. Devotees can see a very Big Nandhi out side temple in the open area facing Temple Entrance. Sivarathiri is very big festival here,  more than 50000 people will come to this temple.
This temple where SRI MAHA PEIYAVA has spent lot of time regularly for meditating he is main to trace this place attached to Ramayana period. Devotees can see SRI MAHA PEIYAVA pictures out side Main Shrine.
Guru Dakshinamurthy is in separate shrine many devotees do poojas here for Marriages.

PUTLUR - SRI ANGALA PARAMESWARI AMMAN Putlur a small village 7 KMs from Thiruvallur on the Thiruvallur - Avadi - Chennai highway. A beautiful temple but small one crowded always.
