THAKKOLAM SRI SOMANADHEESWARAR - One of the Padal petra Siva stalams and very OLD temples in Thakkolam. Here SRI SOMANADHEESWARAR is with SRI RATHINAVALLI AMBAL. Other Sri Vinayagar, Sri Murugan, Sri Dakshinamoorthy, Sri Durgai amman all can be seen in praharam.
Here SRI SOMANADHEESWARAR  has releived Chandran's (MOON) blindness, and on request from Chandran, Lord Siva PUT him on his JADA MUDI. Very Old temple. So this temple is called as Chandra Sthalam
Special feature in this temple is LORD BAIRAVAR. Earlier this temple has Very old small Lord Bairavar  STATUE in small shrine. Later they found almost 8 ft. SRI KABALA BAIRAVAR statue with KABALAM as HARAM. Holding PASAM and ANGUSAM in hands and NAGABARANAM in head. And also they found Lord Bairavar carved on Stone, belongs to earlier stages (some people say as Kaval Deivam of Thakkolam village).
Here devotees are coming here for CHANDRA DOSHAM, and to Bairavar for Legal matter success, marriages, child birth, and success in business activities. Now the temple authorities are constructing new big shrine for SRI KABALA BAIRAVAR in the corridor. Another speciality in this temple is they are growing all the holy trees suiting all 27 Nakshatras around Praharam ( also as the special dedicated trees (sthala Viruksham) of many Lord Siva temples). Particularly here Vilvam is having 12 sect leaves a rare one.
Temple timings : 6.00 AM to 12.00 Noon and 4.30 PM to 8.30 PM. Since only one archakar is here and he is also looking after another two temples nearby kindly confirm your visit in advance ( Ph: 9787812628). But one or two local people will be there to explain temple features.

Location : 25 Kms from Arakonam 35 Kms from Tiruvallur and 75 Kms from Chennai. On Chennai Bangalore Highway, Take right turn after Queensland straight drive for 25 kms to Thakkolam

These old temples have more vibrations as the poojas and Mantras are rendering for many years.
