  Sri Murugeeswarar Temple , Thaiyur                Sri Murugeeswarar Temple , Thaiyur, near Kelambakkam  on the way to Pondichery route. Thaiyur is a small village about 5 KMs inside from OMR Road. One of the oldest temples in Chennai dist ( from inscriptions, dated back to 1000 years old temple). Still all main idols are looking beautiful.   Moolavar  : Sri Murugeeswarar Ambal    :    Sri Maragathavalli               Here Lord Shiva is facing east in the Sanctum ( Karuvarai) . Inside Sanctum fairly bigger size Lingam and on the right side with Sri PRIYAVIDAI NAYAGI facing Lord Shiva . . In the outside Priharam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu and Durgai in their small sannithi on the wall.               Inside main mandapam Ambal Sri Maragathavalli is facing South, also Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Parasakthi, Kala Bhairavar, Chandran and Suriyan. Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple - Narasingapuram

  Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple - Narasingapuram This great temple of  Sri Narasimhar  is located about 55 Kms from Chennai in a place named " Perambakkam "               The Moolavar of this temple is Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar along with Thayar  Sri Maragathavalli ( Lakshmi)  on his lap. He is found in Veetrirandha (Sitting) position and also ‘ Shantha Swaroopi ’ . The posture of Sri Maragathavalli  ( Lakshmi), who is seen facing the devotees in most typical Narasimhar temples, but here in this temple Thaayar is seen pacifying and cooling the angry Lord(Ugraha Moorthy) and hence her face is turned towards the Lord Narasimhar. So here Narasimhar known as ‘ Shaantha Swaroopi’ . The Perumal is huge and gigantic - and he is about 7 feet in height and Thaayar is about 5 feet in height. Both thaayar and Perumal are beautiful. This Narasingapuram is said to be a great sthalam for all the prarthanais and the Perumal is said to be " Varapprasadhi " (gives us boon)   

SRI DHENUPUREESWARAR SIVAN TEMPLE, MADAMBAKKAM, CHENNAI.

Sri DHENUPUREESWARAR SIVAN TEMPLE , MADAMBAKKAM, Chennai.           Sri  Dhenupurishwarar  is one of the famous  temples of Chennai , especially because of the sculpture of  God Sarabeswarar  present here. The Shiva lingam is  Swayambhu  Lingam or self-manifested Lingam  This temple was built during NINETH CENTURY. The Lord Shiva here is called  Dhenu p ureeswarar  (Dhenu + Puri + Ishwarar) which means, the Lord Shiva who was showered by a cow. Dhenupureeswarar got his name because he gave  moksha  to a cow ( Dhenu). Sage Kapila is said to have been reborn as a cow for his sin of having improperly worshiped a Shiva  lingam  using his left hand. The cow continued to worship Shiva by pouring milk on a Shiva lingam buried in the ground. The cowherd initially punished the cow for wasting the milk, but when the villagers unearthed the Shiva lingam, Shiva appeared and granted moksha (liberation) to Kapila.   Later on the  Pandya   Kings  built the shrine for his consort,  Goddess   Dhenuk

Sri Manikandeswarar Temple, Thirumarperu (Thirumalpur)

  Sri Manikandeswarar Temple,   Thirumarperu  (Thirumalpur) Moolavar Sri Manikandeswarar, Sri Dhayanitheeswarar Sri Malvanangeeswarar Ambal Sri Anchanatchi Amman, Sri Karunai Nayaki Theertham (Holy water) Chakkara Theertham Sthala Vriksham (Sacred Tree) Vilvam Thirumalpur is at a distance of about 14 kms from Kanchipuram on the Kanchipuram to Arakkonam route. This temple has a unique feature among the Paadal Petra Sthalams where one can have the Darshan of both Lord Shiva and Lord Maha Vishnu simultaneously. Inside the sanctum, Lord Mahavishnu standing exactly opposite to Lord Shiva with folded hands in praying form.
