Sri Murugeeswarar Temple, Thaiyur

            Sri Murugeeswarar Temple, Thaiyur, near Kelambakkam  on the way to Pondichery route. Thaiyur is a small village about 5 KMs inside from OMR Road. One of the oldest temples in Chennai dist ( from inscriptions, dated back to 1000 years old temple). Still all main idols are looking beautiful.

             Here Lord Shiva is facing east in the Sanctum ( Karuvarai). Inside Sanctum fairly bigger size Lingam and on the right side with Sri PRIYAVIDAI NAYAGI facing Lord Shiva.. In the outside Priharam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu and Durgai in their small sannithi on the wall.

 

            Inside main mandapam Ambal Sri Maragathavalli is facing South, also Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Parasakthi, Kala Bhairavar, Chandran and Suriyan. In Main Mandapam left side of Sanctum Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar ( Made of Sand stone)  with Peacock in front, Sri Kasi Viswanathar, in worshiping posture. Here Sri Murugar Prayed and done pooja to Lord Shiva. So the name Lord MURUGEESWARAR attained. Left of Sanctum Sri Bala Vinayagar idol can be seen.

 

            Outside of mandapam very tall Dwajastambam and Lord Nandhi facing Lord Shiva. Out side Corridor corner Navgraha sannithi, here all MURTHIS are having their spouce on their lap.

                 When we enter Main temple , out side on the right pillar we can see Sri Murugar is keeping one leg on Peacock as he is leaving to Thiruporur after Pooja. Left side Sri Vinayagr Idol can be seen.

PUTLUR - SRI ANGALA PARAMESWARI AMMAN Putlur a small village 7 KMs from Thiruvallur on the Thiruvallur - Avadi - Chennai highway. A beautiful temple but small one crowded always.
