 SRI SUNDARA VARADARAJA PERUMAL, UTHIRAMERUR

             The temple is situated in a small town Uthiramerur. The history of the temple is in 7th century, Superb in sculpture, architectural designs and stone works.

             Lord Maha Vishnu is the main deity and Thayar is Sri Anandha Valli Thayar . The temple has 2 tier levels above main Sanctum and in such a way all 3 Vishnu positioned one above other.  In the Ground level Sri Sundara Varadar is in standing posture ( NINDRAN ) with Sridevi and Bhudevi.  Around the main sanctum in the praharam there are sannadhis for Achuthavaradar,  Anirudra Varadar and Kalyana Varadar. Climbing over narrow steps, in the First Level  Sri Vaikunda Varathar is in Sitting position (IRUNDHAN) with Sridevi and Bhudevi. In the small praharam in the first level small Sannathis for Sri Krishnar as Parthasarathy with Arjunar, Sri Yoga Narasimhar and Sri Lakshmi Varahar in sitting position with Lakshmi on his lap.  Climbing over steps, in the Second level Sri Ranganathar (Ananda Padmanabha) is in sayana posture (KIDANTHAN) on Adishesha with Ganga, Yamuna, Brahma, Shiva, Markandeyar, Bhudevi and the demons Madhu & Kaidapan. The entire structure is a Remarkable architecture.

             In this temple once you visit you can have darshan of 9 Vishnu forms  -  Sri Sundara Varathar, Sri Vaikunda Varathar, Sri Ranganathar, Sri Achudha Varathar, Sri Aniruddha Varathar and Sri Kalyana Varathar, Sri Yoga Narasmhar, Sri Lakshmi Varahar, and Sri Krishnar.

                      During exile the Pancha Pandavas visited Uthiramerur.  Yudhishtira worshiped Sundara Varadar, Bheema worshiped Sri Vaikunda Perumal, Arjuna worshiped Achutha Varadar, Nakula worshiped Anirudra Varadar and Sahadeva worshiped Kalyana Varadar. Draupadi worshiped Sri Ananda Valli Thayar.

             Thayar and Andal are in separate sannadhis at the ground level. Here one can see the idol of Sri Lord Dhakshina murthy which is a rare in Perumal temple. The main Rajagopuram has 7 tiers facing East.

                      Sri Veera Anjaneyar sannadhi is in fornt of main entry into temple ( Outside temple) facing  Sri Sundara Varadharaja Perumal sannithi.

PUTLUR - SRI ANGALA PARAMESWARI AMMAN Putlur a small village 7 KMs from Thiruvallur on the Thiruvallur - Avadi - Chennai highway. A beautiful temple but small one crowded always.
