SRI MALLIKARJUNA SWAMY, SRISAILAM

Sri  Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga temple, Sri Bhramaramba sametha Mallikarjuna Swamy, is located in Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh. The temple is dedicated to both Shiva and Parvati and is one of the eighteen Shakti Peethas of India. Known as "Kailash of the South", the Mallikarjuna Temple is one of the most important Shiva temples and one of the JYOTHIRLINGAM temples.

 


The Mallikarjuna Temple stands as an outstanding testament to Chalukyan architecture, drawing art and culture enthusiasts and pilgrims for Lord Shiva worship. You can see the beautiful ancient architecture, carvings etc in all the pillars and mandapam inside.

 






The sanctum is a shell like structure that enshrines Lord Mallikarjuna. The small black Lingam has a hooded golden cover. The garbha griha is small and only priests are allowed inside. It has a large idol of Nandi, facing the sanctum which presides over a pillared hall. The door to the sanctum is silver-plated. To its left is the idol of Ratnagarbha Ganapati and to the right are Veerabhadra Swamy and Bhadrakali. To the north of the sanctum are the five lingas installed by the Pandavas.

 






At a distance of 160 km from Nandyal, 181 km from Kurnool, and with nearest railway station Marakpore in 70 kms from Srisailam. Situated on the hill just like Tirupathi and always crowded like Tirupathi.

 





Reg darshans you can chk with temple site and book darshan in advance. They have three tier darsha and special archanai & abishekam darshans also.

Three tier checkings for personal belongings and for electronic devices . Don’t carry anything inside. Very neat corridors and surroundings.

Just before reaching Srisailam town, you can have darshan of SAKSHI GANAPATHY a small temple.

 





Srisailam town itself with many lord Siva statues at many places making the entire place as holy place. Srisailam is also famous for Srisailam Dam

You will get many private hotels, Devasthanam cottages, and APSRTC hotels for stay

 Enroute by road you can visit few good temple -
